Visa Requirements

  • Citizens of the European Union, or holders of a valid SENGHEN VISA do not need a visa to visit Greece.
  • Citizens of the following countries do not require a visa to visit Greece:
    • Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Esthonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Japan, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, N. Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Rumania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, S. Korea, Switzerland, St. Marino, Uruguay, USA, The Vatican, Venezuela.
  • Citizens of all other countries should contact their nearest Greek Embassy or Consulate in order to obtain a visa or other necessary documentation for their travel.

Getting to Syros (Ermoupolis)

By air from Athens International Airport 'Eleftherios Venizelos': Services to Syros are operated by Olympic Airways. Flights from Athens to Syros last approximately 30 mins.

Charter airlines operate direct, chartered flights to Mykonos (Island close to Syros), daily from April to October, from many European airports. Please consult your travel agent for details as information on schedules and services varies. In any case, early booking is strongly advised.

By boat from Piraeus (Athens' Port): Ferry services are operated daily. High speed services from Piraeus to Syros last approximately 2,5 hours; Regular ferry daily services last approximately 4 hours.

Getting from Athens Airport to Piraeus Port

There are buses from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport to Piraeus Port departing every 15-20 minutes and the bus number is E96 (This is a 24-hour service). The duration is about 1 hour and the cost €2.90. You can also reach Piraeus Port by getting a taxi from the airport. (Bus information for the Athens area can be found at www.oasa.gr)
