By train: In Spain we have 3 different types of train networks:
Note : Please check the timetables before your departure as there may be changes or delays.
- By local train network (Media Distancia): This option has very cheap tickets. It will take, depending on the service that you chose, by 1.5 - 2 hours from Barcelona Airport to Tarragona. You can buy the ticket in the airport train station, and you will need to change trains in Barcelona Sants train station. The prices are €6.40 euros for one way. You will arrive at Tarragona train station in the city centre. We recommend that you use this alternative if you are coming by train.
- By long distance train network (Largo recorrido): Largo Recorrido is a little bit faster than Regionales, but this service is much more expensive (€19 euros one way). It is recommended that you only use this service if you arrive quite late and if this is the only serivce available. You must go from the airport to Barcelona Sants train station. You will arrive at Tarragona train station in the city centre.
- By high speed train network (AVE-AVANT): AVE is the most expensive service availiable and you arrive outside the city at Camp de Tarragona Train Station. We do not recommend this service, as it is more expensive but also you must take a taxi to Tarragona (€30-40 euros), and by bus (www.empresaplana.es , +34 977 214 475 or +34 977 354 445). If you choose this option you will travel from the airport to Barcelona Sants train station.
